Embarking on a whirlwind tour of Congress, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore testified before several Senate and House of Representatives committees today, insisting on decisive action to curb global warming. Speaking to overflow crowds, Gore urged lawmakers to solve the climate crisis--a message that drew praise, and some skepticism, from members of Congress.

It would appear that the exchange between Rep. Baron and the former VP was the headline stealer, judging by CNN: "Republicans frosty on Gore's global warming warnings." I suppose there's little need to report on the bulk of his testimony when there's fun "controversy."
RealClimate has a number of links on many scientists response to Rep. Barton's former attempts to cast climatology research in a poor light. Fortunately, it would seem that Congress is generally receptive to Mr. Gore's ideas. My only surprise was that Sen. Inhofe didn't cause an even bigger stink.

Looks like I spoke too soon. Sen.s Inhofe and Bond both tried to use science-y sounding arguments, combined with nonsensical emotional ploys during today's Senate hearing. However, I suspect we are quickly reaching the point at which climate change skeptics such as Sen. Inhofe and Rep. Barton (note: I misspelled the Texas Congressman's name previously) are no longer relevant. Industry and citizens alike are beginning to demand that the government do something about climate change. Their use of very tired arguments to stir the pot and slow the inevitable are unfortunate thorns for the American public, though.

Jason an FYI ....
The Hasen hearing on this page for anyone who wants to listen :
http://www.c-span.org/VideoArchives.asp?CatCodePairs=,&ArchiveDays=100&Page=4
It that hearing, Rep. Issa refers to a Google search one of his staff did on Hansen doing interviews, that search according to Issa got 1,400 hits.
Today the wingers are saying Hansen gave 1,400 interviews.
I watched this hearing on C-Span ...... by the end it had morphed from hits on Google to interviews given.

Just a little something to illustrate a point that's not being told :
Yesterday, at Altus, Oklahoma, the low was 62 degrees. The average for the date is 38.
A 22 degree above average difference.
