Senator John Sununu (R-NH) has just announced that his office is working on legislation that would prevent the FCC from creating specific technology mandates that have to be followed by consumer electronics manufacturers. What's his target? The broadcast flag.

All right Senator Sununu! Of course, there's always the chance that this is just the first step for Congress to pander to Hollywood, instead of letting the FCC do it directly. And yes, Republicans like Hollywood more than you might have though. Case in point: Sen. Orin Hatch (R- UT).
However, as I'm not fan of cynicism, I hope that this is truly a Senator looking out for the good of the people and not the pockets of just a few. Let's face it, if you're going to help people, you might as well help those that can vote for you and since there's not much of an entertainment industry in NH…
Short story: good news. Glad to see folks looking out for us in the Senate like John Sununu.
